Comply with CDC Guidelines and Take Precautions
to Prevent the Transmission of Infectious Agents
The CDC estimates that each year, 2 million patients contract infections in hospitals, and 2.7 million contract infections in nursing homes. Of these, more than 90,000 die in hospitals as a result.
CDC Recommendations:
SIGNS: Post at entrances and in strategic places, such as elevators and cafeterias
HAND HYGIENE: Provide conveniently-located dispensers of alcohol-based hand rubs (hand sanitizers)
WEAR FACE MASKS: Offer masks to coughing patients and other symptomatic persons upon entry into the facility
USE TISSUES: Provide tissues, beginning at the point of initial encounter, including triage, reception, waiting areas, outpatient clinics and physician offices
